Reimbursement Options
Tier I Reimbursements
A Tier I reimbursement rate is paid when:
- Providers are located within a low-income geographic area (defined by census tract block group or elementary school district boundaries).
- Providers do not live in a low-income area, but are low income themselves.
- Providers don’t qualify based on where they live or their own income, but can demonstrate the families they serve are low income.
Tier II Reimbursements
A Tier II reimbursement rate is paid when:
- Providers do not meet the Tier I criteria above and whose daycare children are not low income.
- Providers do not want to furnish their own income information.
- Providers do not want to have their child care parents complete an eligibility application or whose parents did not return the application.
Mixed Tier I & II
If eligibility is based on applications from the parents, some providers may receive Tier I reimbursement rates for some children and Tier II rates for others.
