FRRC - Information for Donors

Contribute to Building Strong Families

Joan Richards founded FRRC after receiving a grant from the California Department of Education, Child Development Division in 1979. Countless child care providers, as well as individual children and families, have been the beneficiaries of child development resources because of Joan’s visionary work in San Joaquin County.

Joan served as Executive Director of FRRC for 22 years. Upon her retirement, the Joan Richards Child Development Fund was established to meet individual and family needs not covered by existing programs administered by FRRC.

As a community-based organization, we rely on financial help from individuals like you. Over 85% of our funds go directly to providing services.

Your contribution will help provide:

  • Safe and affordable child care for low-income families in San Joaquin County and surrounding areas.
  • Many other vital services that help to make our community healthier and safer.

Consider underwriting one of the annual events we are proud to sponsor in our community:

  • Action on Behalf of Children (ABC) Awards are presented in special recognition to those who have made a difference in the lives of children in San Joaquin County and surrounding areas.

  • Children & Youth Day at Pixie Woods is designed to increase community awareness of services and opportunities for infants through teens.

  • Snow Storm at Weber Point is a partnership between FRRC, City of Stockton Parks and Recreation staff, and the Children’s Museum. Volunteers work to create a winter wonderland complete with two sled runs and a tot play area. Food and coats are collected at the event entrance and are subsequently picked up and distributed by the Emergency Food Bank to individuals in need.

FRRC is dedicated to outreach, and staff make tremendous contributions to our community. Each staff member gives in a different way, but their overall effort is huge by:

  • Thoughtfully guiding and reassuring anxious parents searching for child care.
  • Offering training to child care providers to improve the quality of care.
  • Providing workshops to parents to support them in doing their best by their kids.
  • Administering subsidies to help low income parents afford the child care essential for them to be able to work and for their children to thrive.
  • Informing our elected representatives and civil servants about the child care realities of our time.
